Celebrating Quebec’s Week for Disabled Persons with a unique view

We asked Nathan Stacey, one of our graphic design interns from Wagar Adult Education Centre, to prepare a graphic that we could share during this year’s Quebec’s Week for Disabled Persons. What came to Stacey’s mind while brainstorming his design was a most interesting and thoughtful perspective on disability and encouraging others to be their own selves.

 “My graphic revolves around the Three Wise Monkeys (See, Hear and Speak), and the aspects of humanity that are achievable through patience and discipline,” said Stacey.

 Instead of monkeys, Stacey uses non-descript characters, which can relate to anyone. His hands over the head drawing represent thinking inwards, and the hand removing the mask represents revealing one's true self and unlocking their potential. Finally, the palm over the fist shows the act of control, fighting the urge to lash out.

We welcome everyone to participate in Quebec’s Week for Disabled Persons, which takes place from June 1 to 7.
