Youth Students (ages 12-17)

The English Montreal School Board is the largest public English school board in Quebec. Our schools are safe, clean, welcoming, nurturing and affordable with dedicated teachers who strive to offer the highest quality education possible. Here is our graduation success rates.

French Language Options

Academics along with an enriched learning experience, partnered with French language options are offered in our secondary schools.

  • In the basic French stream, students receive the majority of their instruction in English with the exception of one course in French as a second language (Français langue seconde, programme de base)
  • In the extended French streams, students in Grade 7 to 9 receive a higher percentage of their academic instruction in French.  This percentage varies between 38% to 72% depending on the school and the French program. In Grade 10 and 11, all courses are taught in English, with the exception of the French language program.
Extra-Curricular Activities

Over and above the academics, extra-curricular activities are an integral part of the learning experience.  Each of our schools offers activities that interest their particular clientele. Some of the most popular are a variety of sports activities, fine arts (dance, music, art, drama etc.), robotics, leadership programs, student clubs (chess, photography, debate etc.) and challenging local, national and international competitions.

The learning experience is further enriched through organized half-day, full-day or overnight excursions. Our students have the opportunity to visit many of the historical sites throughout Montreal and Quebec as well as experience what is considered Quebec traditions.
